Privacy Policy
Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram or Meta. This is an independent tool for saving public media you already have a link to.
This Privacy Policy describes how Reels Downloader ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use our Android application. We built the app so that your media and preferences stay on your device. We do not create accounts, we do not operate a user database, and we do not upload your downloads to our servers. By using the app, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who We Are
Reels Downloader is an independent, local-first utility that helps you save public reels, posts, story videos, and photos on your own device. There is no account, no login, and no advertising in this version.
Privacy questions: iosb13027@gmail.com
2. We Do Not Collect an Account
There is no sign-up, no email login, and no Instagram OAuth in the app. We do not ask for your name, phone number, payment card, or Instagram password. Because there is no account, we also cannot look up “your data” on a server — it is not there.
3. What Stays on Your Device
The following is stored locally and is not sent to a Reels Downloader server:
- Public links you paste, share, or that are read from the clipboard to start a download
- Video and photo files you save, plus optional thumbnails
- A local list of those files for the Downloads screen
- Language and first-run settings
If you grant permission, a copy of a saved file may also be written to your system gallery in the “Reels Downloader” album. The gallery is controlled by your operating system, not by a cloud we run.
4. Clipboard and Share Sheet
To make saving easier, the app may read text from the clipboard when you open or return to the app, and it may receive a link when you choose Reels Downloader from the system share sheet. That text is checked on the device for a supported public URL. We do not transmit clipboard contents to our servers.
5. Network Requests
The app needs the internet only to fetch the public media you asked to save. Those requests go from your device to the public services and content delivery network of the source platform so the file can be written locally.
We do not operate a proxy that stores your links or files. We do not receive a copy of the download on a Reels Downloader backend. Temporary session data used for that public request stays on the device.
6. Permissions
The app may request the following Android permissions:
- Internet / network state — To fetch the public media you asked to save
- Photos / gallery / storage — So a saved file can be placed in your library (the “Reels Downloader” album). If you decline, the file can still remain in the in-app Downloads folder on the device.
The app does not request contacts, location, microphone, notifications, or Instagram credentials. You can revoke permissions at any time in your device Settings.
7. How We Use Information
Information accessed by the app is used only to:
- Detect a supported public link from paste, share sheet, or clipboard
- Download the public photo or video you asked to save
- Show saved items in the in-app Downloads library
- Optionally export a copy to your gallery
- Remember language and first-run settings
- Prompt for an optional Google Play in-app review after you save media
8. Data Protection Principles
- Data minimisation — we only keep what the app needs to show your downloads and remember settings.
- Purpose limitation — local data is used to provide the download feature, not to advertise or profile you.
- Storage limitation — we do not retain your media on any server. You control deletion on the device.
- Integrity and confidentiality — files stay in the app sandbox and, if you allow it, your gallery.
- No sale of data — we do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
9. Analytics, Ads, and Crash Reporting
This version does not include ads, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting services. We do not collect advertising IDs for our own use. If a future update adds any of those, this policy and the store Data safety section will be updated first.
10. Third-Party Services
The app may interact with the following third parties:
- Public media hosts — Your device contacts the public services of the source platform to fetch the file you asked to save. Their terms and privacy policy apply to that request.
- Google Play In-App Review — Optional rating prompt handled by Google Play
- Android Share / other apps you choose — When you share saved media or send feedback email, the destination app's privacy policy applies
We do not share your downloads, clipboard links, or settings with third parties because we do not receive them.
11. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or transmit:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address (unless you contact us directly)
- Instagram username, password, or private account content
- Location data
- Contacts
- Financial or payment information (in the current version)
- Health or biometric data
12. Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, contact us and delete the app from the device.
13. Retention and Deletion
Local settings and the in-app library remain until you delete items in Downloads, clear app storage, or uninstall. Gallery copies remain until you delete them in Photos. We have no remote copy to erase on our side.
Uninstalling the app removes app-specific data. Saved files in your gallery remain until you delete them manually.
14. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. For Reels Downloader, the practical way to exercise those rights is on the device: delete saved items, clear app data, or uninstall. If you have a request we can help with, email iosb13027@gmail.com.
15. International Users
Because we do not host a user database, we do not transfer your download library to another country on our systems. Any network path used to fetch a public file is between your device and the source platform, subject to their terms and infrastructure.
16. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the app. Downloads remain on your device under your control. The app does not store your media on servers we operate.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be reflected in the app and, where required, in the store listing. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
